No Practice #2

How can you say that we need no practice? How can you dismiss what has been universally approved and acknowledged throughout history as the necessary and highest means to the realisation of the Self or the Divine? I obviously need to practice to still my mind.

All right, you go and practice your things to still your mind, good luck! I will not practice, I will steal your mind instead. [Laughter] Practice is excellent and fine for attaining some benefit such as better health, increased concentration, developing a sharper intellect or even for gaining supernatural powers. I don't argue with this. I might even recommend some particular practice to one whom I feel would benefit by it. However, a practice, even one given by a sage cannot bring you to your-Self, for you are already 'Here,' inescapably, as yourself. Let us be clear about this so as to not dismiss it as mere semantics. You only need to realise the obvious! That is: the sense 'I exist' – the most natural and subjective intuition – is the constant in the changeful. And this witnessing presence is what we truly are, whatever may happen in terms of manifestation. It witnesses mind and its functioning. It stands apart, formless, happy and whole. Mind is needed for practice. No practice is required to be. 'I am' is what you are. Know and accept this and be happy!
